Static and dynamical measurement of the torsional modulus of a metal wire
Precise and simple, the Altay’s Torsion Balance is designed to study the torsional elasticity of a metal wire.
Using pendulum’s movement, the measurement of the balance oscillating period allows us to estimate the modulus of torsion.
Equipment Needed
Digital Chronometer – Code 2231.52 or
Photogate – Code 2312.10 (or Motion Detector – Code 2310.10) and LabPro – Code 2300.10
