Simple and functional, the Altay’s Gold Leaf Electroscope allows us to amount of excessive electric charges of one sign over the other.
Take a dielectric material to induce or bank charges on the top of the electroscope box and observe a permanent or temporary displacement of the thin golden leaf from the vertical metal rod.
If you introduce a charge on the metal cap of the electroscope you will see the displacement of the golden leaf.
